Continued From Above :
The Covid-19 pandemic has created unprecedented times but according to USA Hockey's website all indications are there will be a 2020/2021 hockey season. In any event, hockey teams will still need to recruit this year for the 2021/2022 season.
A minimum of 1,000 players from the top three USA & the top six Canadian leagues with a 2000 birth year will be aging out. This does not include the number of players not coming back to teams for various reasons (college commitments, trades, players moving down, injuries, etc.).
You should be proactive in aggressively promoting yourself with all the tools at your disposal to help develop a more effective scouting strategy. A key feature of your online hockey resume is that it is designed to be optimized when viewing from a cell phone. I would venture to say that hockey team personnel (Head Coach, Head Scout, Director of Player Personnel or the GM -General Manager) use their cell phone 90% of the time, so you want to make sure you make it easy for them when reviewing your online hockey resume.
Players that I think should have an online hockey resume:
-
Players looking to get on a teams radar or to request junior camp invitations
-
High School or AA players looking to play Junior Tier 111
-
U14, U15, U16 , U18 AAA players looking to play Junior Tier 1 or Tier 11
-
Junior Tier 111 players looking to play Tier 11
-
Junior Tier 11 players looking to play Tier 1
-
Junior players looking to play NCAA D1, D3 or ACHA D1 college hockey.
-
Women AAA hockey players looking to play NCAA or ACHA
-
Junior players should always contact any of the colleges they are interested in and provide them with a link to their online resume.
All U.S.A & Canadian leagues are listed online by a simple Google search. Once you are on the league's home page you can click on any teams website to get some or all of the name(s) and email addresses of the Head Coach, Head Scout, Director of Player Personnel or the GM -General Manager. I would draft an email that includes your link to your own personal online hockey resume so you can get on various team(s) radar. 2020/ 2021 team (the sooner the better this year).
Junior player team decisions on tendered, drafted or spring camp invitations are made in the first part of the year up until the draft(s). So the earlier this year you can be proactive the fourth quarter of this year the better chance you have of getting on a team(s) radar and a better chance you have of getting scouted. One of the key functions of your online hockey resume is to reach out to teams to request a spring camp invitation(s). Ideally you want to get an invite to the spring camp so you get invited back to the fall camp to significantly increase your chances of making the team.
Note : If you have multiple spring camp invitations be sure to research each team.
( coaching staff, last years roster etc. ) to try and determine their upcoming player requirements & what the best fit would be for your position before making a decision on which camp(s) to attend.
